The son of a Colombian immigrant mother and a father of Italian descent, Steven Capitano Calitri started his career in the control room of MSNBC during the 2003 Iraq War. He worked his way through the camera department as a crew member in multiple NYC film and television productions. He made his Director of Photography feature film debut with NATURAL SELECTION, which swept the 2011 SXSW festival awards and was nominated for two Independent Spirit Awards. Since then, he has worked as the DP for several features, including BENEATH THE HARVEST SKY, which debuted at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and  A KID LIKE JAKE which debuted in Sundance 2018.

Additionally, Steve is the Director of Photography for the first three seasons of Comedy Central’s BROAD CITY. He also has shot episodes for various networks including NETFLIX, HULU, and OWN.
